Speak Up
My entire body, including my vocal cords, is affected by my dystonic movement and cerebral palsy. Depending on how I'm feeling and how my body reacts, I can speak clearly on some days and not on others. I learned early on to speak up, even if others didn't always understand me. I genuinely enjoy talking and encouraging people, and my family has always encouraged me to speak up. Advocacy has always been a part of who I am, even though I was a pre-law student once that's a story for another time. Because they encourage me to communicate in any way I can, I adore my college. They make sure my message is heard, whether I'm speaking, using assistive technology, or making flyers to advertise our club. They assist in editing and reposting my flyers even when they contain errors. I'm honored to be the club president and to speak up for others, demonstrating that there are many different kinds of leadership.
